進入1990年代後，網路漸漸深入人們的生活當中，突然間，許多生活中想要的資訊，只要上網路輸入關鍵字，就會列出一大串的資料。上面的列表，是我心血來潮上維基百科(WIKIPEDIA)搜尋的全世界最暢銷的唱片排行榜，只有排行至27名的原因，是因為我只摘出銷售量3000萬張以上的唱片。
看著這個排行榜，心中曾有的青春回憶又慢慢湧起，這27張唱片，有半數以上從國中時期陪伴著我成長至今，從國中時期我最愛的Michael Jackson、The Beatles，到高中喜歡的Whitney Houston、Mariah Carey、The Eagles，大學以後愛上的Pink Floyd、Led Zeppelin、Fleetwood Mac、Dire Straits，原本不屑一顧後來卻又被深深吸引的Meat Loaf...，都在我成長的過程中，給我許多心靈上的安慰。除此之外，這20幾張唱片本身的確是精彩萬分，有Billboard專輯榜37週冠軍Michael Jackson的Thriller、史上最暢銷的重搖滾唱片AC/DC的Back in Black、在Billboard專輯榜上停留700多週Pink Floyd 的Dark Side of the Moon、最暢銷的電影原聲帶The Bodyguard/Dirty Dancing、美國精神的代表The Eagles的Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)/ Bruce Springsteen的Born in the U.S.A.、搖滾樂史最重要的作品The Beatles的Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.....等，都是每個年代的經典代表作，如果有機會也有人要看而且我還有熱情的話，我會盡可能在這介紹給大家。
當然，西洋流行音樂經典作品絕對不是只有上面這幾張唱片，而且其實WIKI百科對上片唱片的銷售量還是有所保留，它是用唱片公司宣稱(claims)銷售量，而非經認證的(Certified)銷售量來排名，所以也是僅供參考，晚點我會引用RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America, 美國唱片工業聯盟)的銷售數字，來看看美國最暢銷唱片排行榜。
