The Temple of the King, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow", Rainbow, 1975
1975年離開Deep Purple的吉它手Ritchie Blackmore和前Elf樂團的團員們，合組了Rainbow樂團。在1975~1979年，Rainbow的團員不斷的變動著，而很明顯的樂團的重心在於不變的Ritchie Blackmore和主唱Ronnie James Dio。Ritchie Blackmore一直都對英國中世紀的民謠音樂有好感，Dio也自小就沉迷在如魔戒中的奇幻故事，正義和邪惡對立，天神與魔鬼的戰爭，兩人一拍即合，Rainbow的前期風格就此確立。
"The Temple of the King"出自於Rainbow於1975年的第一張專輯"Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow"，由專輯名稱就可看出整個團體是以Ritchie Blackmore為主軸。歌曲一開始便以One day in the year of the fox....，就像中國的12生肖一樣，一些西方國家也會以動物名來命年，以「狐年」來開頭，的確可以為歌曲帶來一些奇幻色彩，引領聽者立即進入一個中古世紀的世界。故事由一位強壯而充滿活力的男子聽見鐘聲響起，就知道要集合至國王的殿堂去見證一件重要的事開始，而神殿前一位先知以古老的方式Seeing, feeling，以尋找眾人想要的答案，最後他進入國王的殿堂中思索、回想，當終於他踏出殿堂後，眾人終於明白了，因為他以強壯的手指向那位終於選出那位繼承王位的新的國王。
帶有中古奇幻風味的故事，當然也就是他是奇幻故事，也不會有人去深究故事內容到底寓意為何，就像我們也不會去思考「The Lord of the Rings」(魔戒)到底是訴說哪一個年代的故事，因為我們都知道那是個奇幻故事。在很多西方的歷史中，最著名的"The Temple of the King"通常指的是西元前1000多年前所羅門王的宮殿，當然這首歌的故事其實與所羅門王無關，不過引用這個名稱，卻的確也讓人增添不少想像空間。除此之外，"The Temple of The King"在音樂上也是一首很傑出的中慢板歌曲，Ritchie Blackmore難得不飆速以旋律取勝，配上Dio吟唱詩歌般的表演方式實是絕配，70年代在台灣也很受喜愛，不過很奇怪的,Rainbow卻不常在演唱會表演這首歌曲，網路上也找不著Blackmore和Dio合作此曲的影音，只有零散的兩人個自單飛10餘年後的演唱版本，蠻可惜的。
